New Rules of Composition
You have learnt how to use the rule of thirds, leading lines and cropping to help compose your photographs. In the video below the photographer James Allen Stewart discusses two 'new' rules that can be used to improve your composition.
1. Balance the Darks and the Lights
When composing your images try to balance the dark parts of the image with the light parts. Consider if there too much of one or the other or does the image feel balanced? You may want to convert the image to black and white to make this easier for you.
2. "Read" your image from left to right.
When composing your image consider that the eye will naturally start on the left hand side and move across the image. Use this to your advantage by have the the main focal point appear to the viewer after they have looked at the other details of the image.

Your Task
You need to go out and practice using these two rules. Once you feel you have achieved a good example for each one of the rules upload them and explain your thinking behind each composition. Please ensure that you clearly label which rule you used for each image.
