Framing AN IMAGE
Framing is an important part of composition. Zooming in or out and moving the position of your subject can completely change the look and feel of your image.
This was the original photo taken from the camera. It was of a sunrise taken pointing towards Long Eaton.
As you can see there are many interesting details on the horizon and a clear picture of the sun.
Note: Never look directly at the Sun.
The horizon is just below the lower third of the frame and the foreground is in silhouette as the camera had to expose for the Sun as this was the main subject.

In this composition of the same image the Sun is moved to the centre of the frame and the frame is rotated to portrait. The horizon is placed on the lower third and the negative space above the horizon helps draw your eye to the subject (The Sun).
In this image the frame simply cropped into bring attention to the Sun and Chuch Spire the different shades of the silhouette forground are also more apparent as they are seen in more detail.
In this version the image has been cropped to resemble a panorama. This has reduced the amount of negative space in the image and brought more interesting subjects to the viewers attention, such as the Cooling Towers and the Bird. The reduction in negative space also gives this image a more balanced feel.
